Hospitality Thailand Honoured to Attend the Press Conference for “Thai Youth Khon to Africa – Season 2”

Bangkok, Thailand – 12 September 2026 — Hospitality Thailand was honoured to be invited as a VIP guest and media representative to attend the press conference for “Thai Youth Khon to Africa – Season 2,” held at the Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall in Bangkok. The event was organised by the Consulate of the Kingdom of Lesotho in Thailand, in collaboration with the project organising committee, and brought together distinguished guests, diplomatic representatives, cultural leaders, VIP guests and members of the media. The occasion was graciously attended by Dr. Apichart Sudsaeng, Honorary Consul General of the Kingdom of Lesotho in Thailand, together with Dr. Awasada Pokmontri (“Madam Joy”), Chairwoman of the Project, and members of the organising committee. The Thai Youth Khon to Africa – Season 2 project aims to provide Thai children and young people with an opportunity to learn, preserve and share Thailand’s rich cultural heritage through Khon, one of the country’s most distinguished traditional performing arts. Beyond the artistic performance itself, the initiative creates an important platform for cultural exchange, allowing young people from different backgrounds to connect, learn from one another and build friendship and mutual understanding between nations. For Season 2, seven young Thai performers aged 10 and above, representing Chitralada School, Darunsikkhalai School and Rattanakosin Somphot Bang Khun Thian School, are scheduled to travel to the Kingdom of Lesotho and South Africa from 28 September to 7 October 2026. The young performers will have the honour of presenting Thai Khon as part of the celebrations marking the 60th Anniversary of Lesotho’s Independence (Diamond Jubilee), in the presence of the Royal Family, government representatives, distinguished guests and international delegations. The press conference also featured distinguished speakers including Mr. Sanan Angubolkul, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand, and Mr. Jakrapob Penkair, former Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office and Advisor to the Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, who shared their perspectives on the importance of cultural exchange and international relations. The participation of Thai youth in this historic occasion reflects the meaningful role of Thai Soft Power in presenting the country’s cultural heritage to the international community. Through Khon, education and youth development, the project provides an opportunity to strengthen people-to-people connections and foster friendship between the people of Thailand and Lesotho.
